I received an email from a family that had spent the 4th of July at the beach. They had gone home to desert about 150 miles away. Below is the detailed email they sent to me, making it fairly easy to find the next day in the wet sand.
“My family was swimming at Torrance beach today, July 4, and an overly enthusiastic 6-year-old pulled off my wedding band while we were splashing around.
A friend made the rings for my me and my wife, so it has sentimental value.
It’s a platinum, dull-finish men’s wedding band, plain except for a >>>>> pattern etched around it. The ring was lost about 20 yards southwest from the lifeguard tower nearest to the snack bar. The ring was lost about 12:30 p.m., about a half hour before high tide. We were probably 12 feet from the high ridge of dry sand at that point. I’ve attached a cropped photo of the ring.”
“My two boys say you are the “hero of the beach.”
The above information, along with a “Google Map” shot of the area, a picture of the ring, all made it so easy to find.
All were very happy.
